APPEARANCE
Nemistan Dragons are gem-toned dragons with four limbs, a tail and two wings. They have a smooth hide and horns. Male dragons have only physical abilities at their disposal and each male color has it's own specific breath weapon. The female dragons have magical abilities.
Colors
The basic colors of Nemistan Dragons are:
- ruby (m)
- amber (f)
- yellow topaz (m)
- emerald (f)
- sapphire (m)
- amethyst (f)
- diamond (m)
- onyx (f)
The highest ranked colour, opal (f), is very rare and will only appear when there is need for an opal dragon to be born at the dragonry. It's usually unknown whether an opal egg is present since the dam of the clutch will be very protective of it.
Through breeding, six gem variant colours can be obtained that can be either gender. These are:
- sinhalite (emerald x ruby, amethyst x topaz, amber x sapphire)
- garnet (onyx x ruby)
- peridot (emerald x topaz)
- tanzanite (amethyst x sapphire)
- aquamarine (emerald x sapphire)
- quartz (onyx x diamond)
Size
The size of Nemistan dragons is roughly the same for all colours, opals tend to be a bit bigger but it is not a rule. Since no clear information was left on their size, concensus is that they're on the small-medium scale, averaging at around 8 feet to the shoulder (or 3meter).
SPEECH
Nemistan dragons speek telepathically
ABILITIES
Nemistan Dragons have a gender-specific powers. Male Nemistan Dragons have a breath weapon, while female Nemistan Dragons use magic in battle. The opal dragon is the only colour of dragon that can use all the known powers as well as being able to teleport herself and others (sometimes an entire wing) through oblivion. The gem-variants gain the powers of both their parents, but here as well males can only use them as breath weapon and females as magic. Gem variants also possess the ability to transport through oblivion, but it is more limited, they can usually transport themselves and maybe one other dragon or a couple of humans.

- Amber (f): magical control over fire
- Yellow Topaz (m): breath weapon: lightning
- Emerald (f): magical control over plants
- Sapphire (m): breath weapon: water
- Amethyst (f): healing
- Diamond (m): breath weapon: ice
- Onyx (f): power of illusions
Gem Variants:

- quartz (m): breath weapons of ice and haze
- quartz (f): illusion magic and the ability to encase things in ice or merely freeze things in place for a limited amount of time
- sinhalite: different abilities depending on the parentage (see the ones above)
SOCIAL STRUCTURE
Little is written about that in the original infopage. Opals lead a dragonry, their bond being called a Magelle. The male leader of a dragonry is called a Legionaire. Dragonries and castles wage war against each other and each dragon has his or her duty in battle. In times of peace, the dragons and their riders will presumably enjoy themselves and make themselves useful to the general populace of Nemista.
REPRODUCTION, IMPRESSION & DEATH
Nemistan dragons are oviparous. All dragons can rise and reproduce, depending on the colour of the parents certain colours are to be expected in the offspring. When a leading opal rises, the male dragon that catches her can be of any colour. His knight will then automatically become the Legionaire (leading male of the dragonry).
Candidates are schooled before the hatching. Some dams might want to test the candidates to see if they're worthy of the hatchlings. But usually the hatchlings themselves know which candidate is the best fit for them. Dragonets don't bond depending on personality, they generally bond to the person with the correct skillset. For instance, a woman with fire magic will usually bond an amber dragon. However, if a candidate's personality doesn't appeal to a dragonet, they might make a different choice, a very bold dragonet might overlook a shy candidate with the correct skills and choose someone with a smaller talent if they like them better.
A gravely wounded dragon might choose to end it's life by asking the leading Opal or Magelle to send them into oblivion. Their rider might suffer a severe shock at the loss, but it is not a given that they should die from this. It is possible that surviving knights and sorceresses find a new dragon to bond. This usually happens when they're young enough as the castles and dragonries need the knights to defend their territory. A dragon who has lost their rider might petition to be sent into oblivion, but that also isn't the rule. These occurences are rare since a dragon normally protects it's rider at all costs during battle, making it far more likely for the dragon to die in an attack.
NAMING SYSTEM
Female dragons have a name ending on -yr, male dragons have a name ending on -or.
